(Text 6)
W: How are your French lessons going?
M: Well, I’m no longer taking French lessons.
W: Are you kidding? You told me you made up your mind to study French well this summer. Didn’t you sign up for the four-week course ?
M:I did. But the teacher told me not to come back any more after only one week and he returned my m oney for the remaining three weeks.
W: How come? I’ve never heard of a case like that before. Did you have a quarrel with your teacher?
M: Of course not. At first everything went well and he was satisfied with me. But he got angry after I broke the class rules several times.
W: It was your fault, I think. You’d gone too far.
M: Perhaps. But I don’t understand why he told me to stop coming. He was very kind, you know.
W: Just forget it.[來源:Zxxk.Com]

(Text 7)
M: Now we have five-day classes every week, so we have more spare time than before.
W: How do you spend your spare time, Tom?
M:I have much interest in playing the violin and I’ll continue to practise playing it.
W: Do you often take part in the concert?
M: Yes, I like to go listening to some music. At present my major purpose is to learn from others.
W: Do you like classical music or pop?
M:I like both. How do you spend your spare time then, Lily?
W: Playing the piano is my favorite activity.
M: Our hobbies are similar to each other. I hope we can often exchange experience together.
W: So do I, but I’m weak in the theory of music.
M: Me, too. Would you like to go with me to my uncle? He’s a professor of music.
W: I’m glad to go with you. I would ask him for his advice.

(Text 8)
W: Hello, Jim. Where are you going?
M: To the cinema. What about coming with me?
W: No, thanks. I’m going home. My friend’s expecting me.
M: What a pity! I believe it’s a very good film.
W: Do you go to the cinema a lot?
M: Once a week. Most nights I sit at home and watch TV.
W: Oh, I see. By the way, where are you going for your holidays this year?
M: I don’t know yet. My wife’s going to her mother’s for a couple of weeks. She lives by the sea, you know.
W: Oh, does she? That’s convenient.
M: Yes, but I want to go to the country.
W: Don’t you like the sea?
M: Yes, very much. But I need peace and quiet when I’m on holiday.

(Text 9)
W: Hi, John, I haven’t seen you for a few weeks.
M: Oh, hi, Mary. l’ve been studying a lot for my final exam.
W: Well, the term is almost over now.
M: Yeah. My brother is coming for a visit this summer, and we’d like to see some of the country. But traveling is so expensive.
W: Have you thought about camping? I think you’ll really like it. You can rent the equipment you need. It’s much cheaper than buying it or staying at a hotel.
M: What a good idea! We can drive until we find a nice spot and just camp wherever we like.
W: Well, not exactly. It’s usually not allowed unless you camp in a pointed area. But there are many national parks and state parks owning camp grounds around the country.
M: But that takes all the fun out of it.
W: Not really. Besides, you’ll find it easier and convenient to live at the camp grounds for you to take a shower or buy some food there. It’s a good way to make new friends, too.
M: Sounds great! Here’s my bus. I’ll talk to you about this again and get all the details.

Michelle has finally realized one of her lifelong dreams. She always wanted to attend the cooking school that her adviser, Mr. Brown, attended. The school, which is in Paris, accepts only 80 students every year. The students who are accepted generally have at least three years of cooking experience. Michelle has five years of paid experience.
The project that attracted the attention of Mr. Brown, however, was a cake that Michelle made for a wedding. Mr. Brown had never tasted a cake that was as light and creamy as the one that Michelle made. He gave Michelle his card and invited her to bake cakes at his restaurant beginning the next month. It was his invitation that began her career baking for a large restaurant. Right now she is waiting for the pla ne that will fly her to Paris. There she will begin the three?month course that Mr. Brown once attended.
